About Us

Trevor M. Callan, CIMA, CEO

Trevor co-founded Callan Capital with his brothers, Ryan and Tim, after a highly successful career at Merrill Lynch. He was selected through a rigorous testing process to be the first advisor to represent the Merrill Lynch Private Banking and Investment Group (PBIG) in San Diego, an operation dedicated to clients with substantial liquid assets in excess of $10 million.

Trevor earned a Certified Investment Manager Analyst (CIMA) designation following coursework and examination at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. The CIMA attests to superior proficiency in asset allocation, investment policy, manager searches, risk management as well as a keen appreciation of ethics.

He began his career in 1992 at Shearson Lehman Brothers. In 1994, he transferred to Merrill Lynch, where ultimately he became a First Vice President and earned several service awards. Trevor is a former board member of the Chairman’s Roundtable and Treasurer of the San Diego Social Venture Partners. Trevor lives with his wife, Sandy, in La Jolla.

Tim Callan, CFP®, President

Tim was a member of Merrill Lynch’s dedicated high net worth division, The Private Banking and Investment Group, before co-founding Callan Capital with his brothers, Ryan and Trevor.

Tim has been assisting high-net-worth individuals since joining Merrill Lynch in 2000. As a Certified Financial Planner®, Tim takes responsibility for clients’ overall financial planning and oversees asset allocation, money-manager due diligence, portfolio statistical analysis, mortgage and credit, and securities-based lending.

Tim earned a BS in finance at the University of Colorado and, prior to joining Merrill Lynch, worked at Charles Schwab in the Retail Strategy department and the Pacific Coast Options Exchange. He is an active participant in the San Diego Tech Coast Angels.

Ryan Callan, COO

Ryan began his professional financial career at Preferred Capital in Lake Tahoe in 1997 after graduating from the University of Nevada. He spent over two years as an executive in the firm’s business financial services unit focusing on lending to small and mid-sized companies.

Ryan moved to San Diego in 2000 to accept a position at Western Financial Planning, where he was educated in the disciplines of comprehensive wealth management services to wealthy individuals. His duties also included raising capital for limited- partnership transactions in real estate.

In 2001, he accepted a position at Merrill Lynch’s Private Client Group. During his successful career at Merrill, he discovered a passion for multigenerational wealth planning. Ryan educates his clients and their families about the principles of finance and the overall planning process. He believes in motivating key family members in all generations to become involved and collaborate on family legacy issues.

Ryan’s two sons, Ethan and Parker, and his wife, Heidi, are an integral part of his life and decision strategy.
